Ukraine has a large climate potential for implementing wind projects. According to the Global Wind Energy Council report for 2011, around 40% of the country’s territory is sufficient for generating wind energy.
Ukraine’s current wind energy production totals more than 1 GW, of which almost 650 MW were built last year. Companies plan to construct dozens of new wind farms with a total capacity of more than 2 GW by the end of 2020.
IRENA estimates Ukraine’s total potential of wind energy capacity as 120 GW and predicts that it will grow up to 320 GW by 2030.
